Want to learn how to quilt but are intimidated by the other quilt classes that we’ve offered? Well, this class is for you! Viv Smith will be offering a three part, beginning quilting class that will teach you all you need to know!
Three weeks – 3 hours each week
This class is designed for absolute beginners or for people who have started to quilt and feel they need to learn the correct techniques.
You will make a bed quilt the size of your choice. You will learn to:-
1. Use a rotary mat, cutter and rulers correctly and safely.
2. Sew an accurate ¼” seam and oppose your seams.
3. Make your quilt blocks with sashing strips, sew into rows and then sew the rows together to make your quilt top center.
4. Measure, piece and add borders to complete your quilt top.
Session 1 Sunday March 12, 12 – 3 pm
We will learn to use your rotary tools accurately to cut strips ,blocks and sub strip on provided muslim fabric.
We will help you to choose co-ordinating fabrics in your color choice for your quilt should you need this.
We will cut our quilt center fabrics and start to piece together with ¼” seams.
Session 2 Sunday March 19 12 – 3 pm
We will organize our blocks into a pleasing arrangement and number them.
We will start to sew our sashing strips to our blocks.
We will start to sew our blocks into rows .
Session 3 Sunday March 26 12 – 3 pm
We will measure and attach our two borders to complete our quilt top.
